GLOBAL WARMING STATEMENT
In early September, The American Wildlife Conservation Partners (AWCP), of which the National Trappers Association is a member, sent letters to Congress regarding Energy Bill legislation that has been or will be introduced during this session of Congress. The sole purpose of these letters was to express desire to have language included in any legislation for funding directed to State Wildlife Agencies to study and mitigate any impacts that the legislation may have on wildlife and their habitats. Our Conservation Director, along with many of our other partners from the sportsmen community, approved this request for wildlife consideration in any proposed energy bill. The endorsement of these letters sent to Congress was in no way intended to give approval by the National Trappers Association to any existing legislation. Our members can be assured that the NTA does not or will not support any concept, theory or legislation at the state or national level that is not based totally on scientifically proven facts. The newspaper article that appeared lists the NTA and other members as supporting certain legislation. I cannot speak for any of the other organizations but it would appear that the authors of the article have clouded this issue by insinuating that because we are members of AWCP we therefore support….. This is not true. Each member organization of AWCP has the freedom to choose which projects or programs they will support. While a letter from one, or perhaps more, of the AWCP members was sent to the House and Senate urging them to make certain considerations the NTA chose not to support this particular effort. Again, the NTA did not approve or support global warming legislation. Hopefully this will clear up any confusion. |
